Joel Stark was born in Richmond, Texas, and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma School of Drama, he returned to Houston in 1993 acting at Main Street Theater and others as well as continuing his vocal performance studies with a professor at Houston Baptist University.

Joel most recently served as an Air Force public affairs officer for nine years, during which time he performed in rock and country bands in New Mexico, Korea and Guam. When not singing with Billie and the band, Joel sings his young son to sleep at night.
